Frequently asked questions

What is the IMAT?
The International Medical Admissions Test is the English-taught route into Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine in Italy, set out in DM n. 1005 of 6 August 2026. Unlike the Italian-language semestre filtro, it is a genuine, one-off admission test.
How is it different from the Italian semestre filtro?
The semestre filtro replaced the old admission test for Italian-language Medicina, Odontoiatria and Veterinaria: no entrance exam, just an open first semester with three exams. The English-taught tracks kept the entrance-test model — the IMAT sitting produces separate rankings for Medicine/Dentistry and for Veterinary Medicine.
How is the IMAT scored?
60 questions in 100 minutes: reading comprehension (4), logical reasoning (5), biology (23), chemistry (15), physics and mathematics (13, one combined area). +1.5 for a correct answer, −0.4 for a wrong one, 0 for a blank. The pass threshold is 20 out of 90.
Is the app free?
Yes. The Free plan is free forever. Premium is €19/month, €39 every 3 months or €59 every 6 months, renewing automatically (App Store pricing on iPhone/iPad may differ); cancel anytime.
