IMAT 2026: The Non-EU Rankings, University by University

Updated on 5 min readBy the UniTest Pro Editorial Team

In short: if you are a non-EU citizen living abroad, you are not in the national IMAT ranking. You compete only for the reserved seats of the university where you pre-enrolled, in a local ranking that university publishes, and any score above zero makes you eligible. Most calls that give a date say 26 October 2026; several give none. Your university's call, not the national calendar, sets your deadlines.

For the national rankings of EU candidates and non-EU candidates living in Italy, see IMAT 2026 ranking: dates, scrolls and deadlines.

University by university

Taken from each university's 2026/27 call. Seats are the non-EU places in MUR's Tabella B. Where a call says nothing, we write that it says nothing.

Calls with no date yet

These calls say the university draws up the non-EU ranking, but give no publication date and no non-EU procedure:

  • Milano (International Medical School): 15 seats.
  • Sapienza: Medicine «F» 13 seats, Dentistry 6; the ranking appears in the «Enrolment» section of the course page.
  • Roma Tor Vergata: 20 seats in Rome; enrolment goes through [email protected].
  • Bari: 8 seats + 3 Marco Polo; unused non-EU seats can pass to the EU quota.
  • Messina: 61 seats.
  • Catania: 40 seats.

Not covered here: Milano-Bicocca, Torino and Siena (we could not read their 2026/27 call) and the private universities. Check their admissions pages directly.

What to do

  • Find your university's 2026/27 call and the page where its ranking will appear
  • Check whether it asks for a separate registration (Bologna's closed on 5 October; Cagliari requires one, with no deadline in the call)
  • Check that page and your student portal daily from now on: Cagliari published early, on 21 October, and most others are due on 26 October
  • Enrol by the date in your call: the windows differ, from a few days (Pavia) to about two weeks (Parma)
  • If you also hold an EU citizenship, expect to be moved to the EU list

FAQ

Am I in the national IMAT ranking as a non-EU candidate?

Only if you live in Italy (under art. 39, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree 286/1998). If you are a non-EU citizen living abroad, you are not: you compete only for the reserved seats of the university where you pre-enrolled, in a ranking that university draws up.

When are the non-EU rankings published?

Each university decides. Cagliari published its list on 21 October 2026. Bologna, Ancona, Parma, Campania Vanvitelli and Padova (together with its EU list) point to 26 October 2026. Napoli Federico II applies the same procedure as its national ranking. Pavia, Milano, Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Bari, Messina and Catania give no date in their 2026/27 call.

What score do I need?

Any score above zero. Candidates who answered no questions at all are excluded. The 20/90 threshold applies to the national rankings, not to the non-EU lists.

Do the national deadlines apply to me?

Not automatically. The 4-day enrolment window, the confirmation of interest by 12:00 on the fifth day and the 3 November scroll are written for the national Universitaly ranking. For the non-EU list, follow your university's call: Pavia, for example, has its own deadlines (29 October, then 3 and 6 November).

I also hold an EU citizenship. Which list am I on?

The EU one. Bologna says dual citizens with an EU nationality compete in the EU quota, and Pavia removes them from the non-EU ranking and cancels their right to enrol there.

Where do I find my university's ranking?

On the page its call names: the table below gives it where the call does. If the call is silent, watch the course's admissions page and its student portal now: rankings can come out before the date in the call (Cagliari's did).
