IMAT score calculator
Enter how many answers you got right and wrong, and see your score out of 90 and whether it clears the 20/90 eligibility threshold. The scoring is the one fixed by MUR Decree n. 1005 of 6 August 2026.
Enter how many of the 60 questions you answered correctly and how many you got wrong. Whatever is left counts as blank, and blanks are worth zero.
How the scoring works
The IMAT is 60 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes: Biology 23, Chemistry 15, Physics and Maths 13, Logical reasoning 5, Reading comprehension 4. A correct answer is worth +1.5, a wrong one −0.4, and a blank 0 — so an unanswered question is never punished, only a wrong one is.
That penalty is what makes the guessing question worth doing properly. Answering at random among five options loses 0.02 points per question on average. Rule out one option you are sure about and the same guess gains 0.075. One elimination flips the sign, which is a far more useful rule than “never guess”.
Frequently asked questions
- How is the IMAT scored?
- Each correct answer is worth +1.5 points, each wrong answer −0.4, and a question left blank is worth zero. With 60 questions the maximum is 90 points. The scoring is set by MUR Decree n. 1005 of 6 August 2026.
- What is a passing IMAT score?
- 20 out of 90 is the eligibility threshold: below it you are not placed in the ranking at all. Above it you are eligible, which is not the same as admitted — admission depends on the ranking and on the seats available for the course you applied to.
- Should I guess on the IMAT?
- Not blindly. With five options a random guess averages 0.2 × 1.5 + 0.8 × (−0.4) = −0.02 points, so over many questions it costs you slightly. Eliminate a single option and the same guess becomes worth +0.075 on average: one confident elimination is what turns guessing from a loss into a gain.
- Does the IMAT have one ranking or two?
- Two. The same exam feeds one ranking shared by Medicine and Dentistry candidates and a separate one for Veterinary Medicine, so the score that admits a candidate to one may not admit them to the other.
- Is this the official score?
- The arithmetic is the decree's, but the official result is the one published for your exam. This tool is for estimating a mock, or for checking what a given number of correct answers is worth before you sit the real thing.

Know the number, then move it
A score you can calculate is a score you can raise. UniTest Pro drills the five IMAT sections in the real format and marks them with this same scoring, so a mock tells you where the 90 points are actually going.
